It looks more like a small microphone in my hand than a camera.
Viosport's Adventure Camera 3 is a little bit bigger than a tube of lipstick and weighs about 3 ounces, but the video quality is pretty good.
Record the video on a camcorder. A microphone is built into the line that connects the camera and camcorder.
Viosport provides a variety of mounts to attach the camera to almost anything that moves, including a headband for your hat.
The whole idea is to let you capture video hands free while you ride or row, or tackle the slopes. Dave Ollila started Viosport: "If you're skiing and want to get a shot of you skiing – attach (the camera), with a clamp or pod type mount to the front of your ski and get yourself as you're going thru the powder."
For now the camera is tethered to a recorder, usually a camcorder, which can be stuffed into a fanny pack. There is a remote control to start and stop recording
Viosport is working on its own recording system, which will probably use digital memory similar to what we use in our still cameras.
The 300-dollar camera has been used in many sporting events, fishing shows, and in tight spots that big cameras just won't work. It be useful for news photographers as well. "You could go into a crowded situation and you don't want to attract a lot of attention with the camera, and you could put that on a hat," says Ollila. "We have a headband mount that goes on a hat."
Or you could be that next great movie-maker using an Adventure Cam to get that really rough shot.
Viosport also makes underwater models and cameras for the military.
