Hunting Trap In Northeast Snares Kitten

Trap By Brentwood Postal Facility Meant For Foxes Traps Tabby

The Washington Humane Society is trying to find out who set the steel hunting trap by the Brentwood Postal Facility in Northeast D.C. that ensnared a 6-month-old orange Tabby cat.

The cat, nicknamed "Trapper," suffered a crushed front leg and veterinarians aren't sure if Trapper is out of the woods just yet. He could have nerve or ligament damage or, a worst-case scenario, amputation.

Officials at the Brentwood postal facility said they do not know who set the trap, which was placed nearby Metro's Redline rails by New York Avenue.

A worker for the Humane Society warned that the trap that was set was illegal and very dangerous. The trap does not discriminate and anything, a cat, a fox or even a child, could get ensnared in its steel jaws.

If Trapper's owner doesn't come forward, the orange tabby will be put up for adoption.
