Police in Prince George's County said a 5-year-old girl and her 46-year-old grandmother have been missing since Saturday.

Ta'Niya McFarlin and her grandmother Melinda Threatt were last seen in Upper Marlboro.

Family members and friends handed out fliers in D.C. on Tuesday in the hope that someone had seen the pair.

Breya Threatt, McFarlin's mother, said her mother, Melinda Threatt, had suffered some problems in the past but had been doing better lately.

"I really don't know what happened. I don't know if they got abducted. I don't know if a relapse is in place. I have no idea. All I know is my child cannot think for herself. She's 5 years old and she needs help," Breya Threatt said.

Police have listed the pair as critical missing persons.

"The investigators are currently working closely with the family and getting out fliers, getting out information to anybody that might have had contact with them since Saturday or seen them since Saturday," said Cpl. Stephen Pacheco of the Prince George's County Police Department.

McFarlin stands 4 feet tall and weighs 60 pounds. She has light-brown skin, dark-brown eyes and dark-brown hair. She was last seen wearing green sandals, a blue jean skirt and a black shirt with the writing, "You know what I mean, jellybean?" in yellow, pink and blue.

Melinda Threatt stands about 5 feet 6 inches and weighs about 180 pounds. She has light-brown skin and dark-brown hair. She was last seen wearing green Capri pants with a green shirt. She was driving a gold, four-door 2000 Toyota Camry with D.C. license number 648710.

Anyone with information is asked to call Prince George's County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
