Police Identify Teenager Struck By Train
Incident Remains Under Investigation
Montgomery County police have released the identity of the teenager struck and killed by a MARC train Wednesday afternoon in Rockville, Md.Police along with fire and rescue units were called to Wyaconda Road and Boiling Brook Parkway about 4 p.m. amid a report of a pedestrian struck by a train.Slideshow: Images From Scene
Investigators said 16-year-old Elisabeth Stanford, of Silver Spring, Md., was seen standing on the tracks by the train's conductor.Investigators said the conductor was unable to stop the train, and the girl was struck. Stanford was pronounced dead at the scene.Her body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Baltimore for an autopsy.Police said her death is being listed as undetermined, pending the completion of the investigation and the results of the autopsy.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department's Homicide Division at (240) 773-5070.
