WASHINGTON -- Metrobus drivers are currently handing out emergency bus transfers to passengers. And according to The Washington Post, three commuter bus systems in Maryland and Virginia are also affected.A regular bus transfer allows Metrobus riders to transfer from bus to bus free of charge within a two-hour period. But the emergency transfers have no times on them and some fear they could be abused.
The transfer supplier based in Pennsylvania said a mechanical problem is to blame for them not being able to send new transfers to Metrobus and those other systems. An emergency supply is reportedly on the way, but so far, Metro has not yet said when that emergency supply is expected to arrive.According to The Post, the three commuter bus systems are Dash in Alexandria, Va., Cue in Fairfax, Va., and The Bus, in Prince George's County, Md.
