Abandoned School Gets Second Chance

Charter School Moves Into New Home

The Thurgood Marshall Academy dedicated it new home Tuesday on Martin Luther King Boulevard in southeast Washington.

The public charter school moved into an abandoned school building that had just completed a $14 million renovation that took two years to complete.

The academy offers its students a law-based curriculum as well as academic tutoring and personalized mentoring.

School officials said 100 percent of last year's senior class went on to college.
