WASHINGTON -- D.C. police are looking into a shooting that critically injured a former Georgetown University basketball star.
Victor Page was shot Tuesday in southeast D.C. He is widely acknowledged as being one of the most talented basketball players to ever come out of a D.C. high school.
Page was sitting in a red sport utility vehicle at around 3 p.m. Tuesday when he was shot, according to police. He managed to drive himself to the 2700 block of Martin Luther King, where Fire Department personnel found him. He was taken to an area hospital.
Page was a former star player at McKinley Tech High School and went on to share the Georgetown Hoyas' backcourt with Allen Iverson. In 1997, he was a first-round draft pick in the Continental Basketball Association, and the next year he signed on with the Washington Congressionals of the U.S. Basketball League.
