ARLINGTON, Va. --
An elderly passenger was stopped at Reagan Washington National Airport Tuesday after security screeners found a sword hidden in his cane.
The sword is 20 inches long.
A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration said the man told screeners that he did not know the sword was there.
The weapon was confiscated and the man was allowed to continue his trip.
The TSA says over 2 million sharp objects have been confiscated at airports nationwide, this calendar year alone.
