The family of Ki Seong Kim, the George Washington University student who shot a University of Maryland student and then himself, "is shocked at the reported incident that took place which led to the death of their youngest and only son," The Baltimore Sun reported.

The shooting happened Friday afternoon in the parking garage adjacent to the Comcast Center on campus. The center is the home of the Maryland Terrapins athletic department. A university spokesman said the shooting is in no way connected to Maryland athletics.

The two shooting victims, a man and a woman, were taken to area hospitals. The man, identified as Ki Seong Kim, 21, died a few hours later.

Captain Andy Ellis of the Prince George's County Police Department said the woman is in "grave" condition at hospitals.

Police said Kim pulled his car up behind the woman's car at about 12:45 p.m., blocking her into a parking space. Officers said he shot her while she sat in her car and he then turned the gun on himself.

Ellis said this "does not appear to be an act of random violence." He said police are not looking for a suspect.

Investigators say Kim and the victim may have had a relationship in the past. Police found a handgun in the garage.

Mark Scott, a university employee, said he was working in a maintenance building across from the garage when he heard two shots.

Scott said he heard "one shot and a second or so later, I heard another one."

University sophomore Xiomara Larios, 19, said she was trying to drive onto the third level of the garage when two people stopped her and told her there were two bodies lying on the deck ahead.

Larios said she did not see or hear anything. "It just happened so fast. I still can't believe two people got shot," Larios said.
