Police Seek Witnesses To Gas Station Shooting

Videotape Shows Several Eyewitnesses Saw Crime

POSTED: 9:28 a.m. EST February 15, 2003

Police in the District have released a videotape of a deadly shooting last month at a Northeast gas station. The tape shows the shooting victim, Allen Price, 43, standing at a gas pump while another man stands nearby at another pump.

Police characterize the tape as disturbing, because it not only shows the crime, but it also shows that people witnessed the crime and have not come forward.

The tape shows a suspect running up, shooting Price in the head and then running away.

Police said the man at the nearby pump did nothing and, at one point, even stepped over Price's body.

Police said dozens of people on a passing Metro bus also saw the shooting. Only one person has called investigators.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
