UPDATED: 6:37 pm EDT June 17, 2008

Prince George's County firefighters battled a fire at a liquor store in a strip mall in Marlow Heights on Tuesday.

Firefighters arrived at the scene in the 4100 block of Branch Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. and found fire and smoke coming from the roof of Marlow Liquors. A second alarm was called.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady said the fire started at the rear of the liquor store and spread to the roof and adjacent sports and shoe stores.

Investigators said the fire was accidental. It was caused by an electrical malfunction at the main power box, fire officials said.

There were no reported injuries. Fire loss is estimated at $100,000.
