Real Estate Agent Says Scammer Hijacked Ad For Home On Craigslist

POSTED: 1:15 pm EDT May 20, 2008
UPDATED: 1:37 pm EDT May 20, 2008

An Annapolis real estate agent told police that an ad for a rental property she posted on Craigslist was hijacked by a scammer.

The woman said someone changed the monthly rental rate and contact information for a home she advertised in Herald Harbor. She discovered the changes last Friday.

The real estate agent said potential renters had contacted the person who posted the bogus ad.

Police said no one has reported losing any money so far.

The prospective tenants backed out when they were told they could not meet the supposed landlord or inspect the property in person prior to handing over money, police said.
