Four people, including two high school students, have been arrested as part of a marijuana distribution investigation in Montgomery County.

Police said several students from area high schools, including Walt Whitman in Bethesda, Winston Churchill in Potomac, and Woodrow Wilson in northwest Washington, pooled their money to buy marijuana and distribute it to other teens.

Marijuana valued at about $12,000 has been seized as part of the investigation, police said. More arrests are possible.

Detectives began their investigation on Friday after they received information that drugs were being distributed from a home in the 800 block of Ivy League Lane in Rockville.

Police charged a 17-year-old male Walt Whitman High School student from Bethesda and a 17-year-old female Winston Churchill High School student from Potomac with possession with intent to distribute after police stopped their vehicle as they were driving away from the Rockville residence on Friday.

Police found 2.5 pounds of marijuana in the students' truck, investigators said.

A search of the Walt Whitman student's home turned up additional marijuana, Ecstasy, scales, $6,600, psilocybin mushrooms, packing materials and related documents, police said.

"I hope that our students have learned for this experience, and we won't have further incidents like this," said Kathlyn Carroll, assistant principal at Walt Whitman. She said the Walt Whitman student who was arrested is no longer at the school.

Paul Peckham, 18, who lives in the 800 block of Ivy League Lane, was charged with possession with intent to distribute and two counts of possession with intent to distribute in a school zone. His home is within 1,000 feet of Carver Education Center.

Police searched Peckham's resident and found marijuana, $2,600, packing materials and scales. He was released after payment of a $50,000 bond.

Carlos Marroquin, 21, of Silver Spring, was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance after detectives recovered 8 ounces of high-grade marijuana in the trunk of his vehicle during a traffic stop as he was driving away from Peckham's home Friday, investigators said.
