Police: Carjacker Strikes Oncoming Train, Flees

BLADENSBURG, Md. -- A carjacker escaped with his life Saturday after driving across a railroad track and into the path of an oncoming train in Bladensburg, police said.Police said the carjacker stole the white Chevrolet Impala at gunpoint about 3 p.m. on Upshur Street.As he drove away, the robber apparently failed to notice the train crossing at Upshur and 47th streets and struck a moving train. He then jumped out of the car and fled, police said.
Police on Saturday night were still searching for the robber, who was black, had a shaved head and wore mechanic clothing.
