Police: D.C. Serial Bank Robber Strikes Again

WASHINGTON -- D.C. police said a man wanted in connection with several bank robberies in downtown Washington struck again Thursday.D.C. detectives and the FBI's Bank Squad are investigating a series of bank robberies. Authorities said they involved a 45-to-50-year-old black man who stands 5 feet 1 inches to 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 115 to 120 pounds, and has a light to medium complexion and a series of scars on the left side of his face. He is known to wear a dark suit and tie of a black, puffy coat with dark pants. He also has worn sunglasses in four of the robberies.
Police said the robberies began in January. Thursday's robbery took place at the United bank in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Northwest.Investigators said they believe the same man is believed to be the culprit in three robberies of the Washington First bank in the 1500 block of K Street in Northwest on Jan. 29, March 26 and April 7.The same man is believed to have robbed the United bank in the 1800 block of I Street in Northwest on March 21 and April 11 and the Bank of Georgetown in the 1100 block of Connecticut Avenue in Northwest on Monday. They also suspect the same man attempted to rob the Urban Trust bank in the 1300 block of I Street on March 26.Anyone with information about the man or the robberies should call police at 202-727-7001 or 202-497-4644 or the FBI at 202-278-2000.
