80-Year-Old Holds Intruder At Bay With Pellet Gun

PASADENA, Md. -- An 80-year-old man held a robber at bay with a pellet gun until police arrived at his home on Tuesday.Anne Arundel police responded at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday to the 100 block of Sandy Beach Road in Pasadena for the report of an attempted robbery.When officers arrived at the home, they found the 80-year-old resident holding the cowering suspect at gunpoint with a pellet gun, police said.
Police searched the intruder and found a checkbook, tools, a credit card and several prescription drug bottles that linked him to a theft from an automobile and another burglary on Sandy Beach Road, police said.A search of surrounding yards revealed a cache of stolen tools taken in the theft from the automobile on Sandy Beach Road, police said.Erick Olsen Bjorntwedt, 27, was charged with first-, second- and fourth-degree burglary, theft, attempted auto theft and several counts of destruction of property.
