Whether they're looking to decorate their entire home or just trying to find the final piece of furniture to complete a room, people should know they don't have to go to a department store. Shopping for furniture online is an option. Taniya Nayak, the host of HGTV's show "Designed To Sell," has some Web sites that will help.

ZFurniture.com has unbeatable prices for high-end stuff. The site has actual showrooms in both D.C. and Virginia. VivaTerra is environmentally friendly. They also have great selection without mass production. Furniture Geek has an actual room planner people can use to map out the room before all of the furniture gets ordered and sent to their home. Craigslist is full of furniture that is used and is ready for a new home.

Washington Post reporter Ylan Mui knows the best places to find shoes online.

Endless is a new site from Amazon that focuses on shoes and bags and follows the Zappos model.

SimplySoles is a site by local entrepreneur Kassie Rempel that includes a new line she designs. Each package includes a handwritten thank you note.

Piperlime is a site from the Gap with a wide assortment of shoes and lots of price ranges, including picks from celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe. And there is free shipping and free returns.

Payless is the largest discount shoe chain in the country, and it is going through a fashion makeover, Mui said. It's partnering with names such as Lela Rose to create stylish shoes at bargain prices. In stores, it's always a gamble to see whether or not your size is in stock, but they can always be ordered online.

ShoeBuy is another free-shipping-both-ways site. This is a no-frills site that offers hundreds of brands at a wide range of prices. It also does not charge tax on its shoes. It also sells men's and kids shoes as well.

Napster and iTunes are the well-known sites, but Lenz said what's not as well known is that Napster allows users to lease songs. Hype Machine is based on what songs are being blogged about on music sites and help listeners discover similar music. OurStage is for up-and-coming artists. And Thumbplay is the place to get the ring tones you want.
