Police Seek Robber Who Forced Way Into Elderly Woman's Home

CHEVY CHASE, Md. -- Montgomery County police are looking for a man who forced his way into the home of an elderly woman and robbed her early Tuesday morning in Chevy Chase Village.Police responded to reports of a home invasion in the 5500 block of Montgomery Street at about 1 a.m.Police said the victim, a 77-year-old woman, was at home when her lights suddenly went out.
She went to the basement to check the fuse box and was struck and pushed to the ground by an unidentified man, police said.The intruder demanded money and the victim said there was cash upstairs, investigators said.The intruder restrained the woman and went upstairs in search of the cash, according to officials. Meanwhile, the victim freed herself and went to a neighbor's house to call police.The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment. Personal items were taken from the home.The suspect is described as an 18-to 23-year-old man, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 130 to 150 pounds. He was wearing a black puffy jacket with white vertical stripes, black pants and a black baseball cap.Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to call police at 240-773-5100.
