CENTREVILLE, Va. -- The arrest of the assistant principal of a Virginia elementary school on charges of growing marijuana is sending shockwaves through the community.
Leonard Marsh, 50, works at Cub Run Elementary School in Centreville.Police arrested him and his wife, Jinny S. Marsh, 56, Tuesday night. Leonard Marsh was charged with manufacturing marijuana and his wife was charged with possession.Detectives said they found a marijuana growing operation and packaged marijuana inside the couple's Fairfax Station house at 9836 South Park Circle. The assistant principal has been placed on administrative leave. Early Thursday morning, his picture was featured on the school's Web site next to the picture of the principal. As word of his arrest spread, the picture was removed."Sad. We send our kids to public school, and it's not something we really like to hear about," said neighbor Denise Krug.Parents whose children attend Cub Run said they were shocked and sorely disappointed."That's my only daughter, and this is her first year in a real school, and I'm kind of surprised to see things like that happen," said parent Sylvia Gutierrez. To add insult to injury, parents said just last week the school held a "Just Say No" to drugs campaign. Parents said Leonard Marsh was one of the lead voices warning kids to stay away from drugs.
