Woman Struck, Killed By Orange Line Metro Train

Ballston, Virginia Square Stations Reopened

The Ballston and Virginia Square Metro stations reopened Monday afternoon after an Orange Line train struck and killed a woman Monday morning.

Metro said it did not appear that the unidentified woman was an employee. She was struck by a train headed to Vienna at about 9:40 a.m. Police are investigating how she ended up on the tracks.

A shuttle bus service was offered from East Falls Church to Clarendon, Metro officials said.

The incident is being investigated.
