WASHINGTON -- A D.C. Council committee passed a proposal Tuesday that would force certain strip clubs to relocate to an industrial area of the city. The clubs located near the city's new baseball stadium are being forced to relocated near New York Avenue in Northeast. The council committee also approved another law that would restrict minors from being inside nightclubs after midnight. The move comes after several violent incidents, including the shooting death of a teenager at a D.C. nightclub in January.
Clubs would also be required to have clearly written security guidelines on how they prevent underage drinking. The bill also would allow clubs to hire off-duty police officers to patrol outside the clubs. The D.C. Council will soon vote on both bills.
