Russian Intelligence Expert Calls Attack Assassination Attempt

WASHINGTON -- A U.S. expert on Russian intelligence who was shot outside his Prince George's County, Md., home said he believes he was targeted.Paul Joyal was shot March 1, four days after he appeared on the NBC's "Dateline." He accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being involved in the fatal poisoning of a former KGB agent in London.Witnesses said two men attacked Joyal and then sped away.
Joyal said he believes it was an assassination attempt.Maryland police and the FBI said they found no evidence Joyal's shooting was anything other than a local crime.
