Small Fire Extinguished In Downtown Metro Tunnel

WASHINGTON -- At about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services went to the Metro tunnel between the Farragut North and Metro Center stations because of smoke on the tracks.Authorities said a small amount of trash and debris was smoldering. The small fire was quickly extinguished and the tunnel was ventilated.Metro single-tracked trains until about 1:25 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
