WASHINGTON -- Metro had its share of problems Wednesday morning.A fire reported on the tracks inside the Farragut North Metro Station in downtown D.C. briefly closed the station Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out shortly before 10 a.m. Metro said the station was reopened at 10:48 a.m. but closed again at 10:59 a.m. because of continued smoldering.A Metrorail spokesman said trains were single-tracked between the Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square stations for almost two hours, and shuttle bus service was provided. Regular service resumed at 11:40 a.m.Metro officials said a short circuit in an electrical line caused the fire along the running rail. The fire was the latest of several suspected or confirmed track fires that have plagued portions of the Metrorail system during the past two days. The report of a track fire on the Orange Line near the Falls Church stations earlier Wednesday was determined to be a false alarm. There was another fire on a section of Red Line tracks near the Farragut North station on Tuesday. Metro officials said an arcing track insulator caused that fire.On Friday, a debris fire at Farragut North caused 15-minute delays in both directions.Stay with News4 and nbc4.com for complete coverage. My Video At NBC4:
