WASHINGTON -- Some gyms are being tailored for specific members.Curves is a successful gym for women only. Now, niche gyms are popping up for seniors only, children only and personal training only.My Gym in Alexandria, Va., is strictly for children.
Bret Booth said My Gym is a fun way for him to get out of the house with 1-year-old Mercer.The youngest members work on balance and their motor skills. Classes for older children include sports training.Charles Griffin belongs to three gyms, but he says his favorite is Bench Gym, a small, personal-training gym in downtown Washington. At Bench Gym, there are no big crowds and no waiting for equipment.Trainer Josh Golden says a personal training gym is exactly that: more personal.
