Art Enables is an arts-and-enterprise program for adults with developmental and/or mental disabilities in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
To celebrate the spirit of Christmas, News4 is spending 12 days looking at the people, places and things that give us reason to pause and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
At the same time, they learn valuable social, communication and vocational skills, which they can use to become self-employed artists or move into competitive, supported or independent employment under the guidance of the group's partner, Melwood Horticultural Training Center.The program is open to adults with mental and/or developmental disabilities who are interested in painting, drawing and any other visual art.Art Enables' mission is to help participants tap their own creative talents and use those talents to express their unique individuality, to become a part of the city's arts and humanities communities and to earn their own income.You can find out more about the group at Art-Enables.org.
